La méditation et la prière sont les modes essentiels de la vie spirituelle. Au milieu d’un monde agité qui tend à nous solliciter et à nous absorber de plus en plus, il est devenu nécessaire pour notre équilibre personnel de savoir se retirer dans le silence.

Etre attentif, telle est l’attitude fondamentale du disciple et de tous ceux qui sont en quête de l’Essentiel, en quête de Dieu. L’attention est la condition de l’éveil et le mode qui permet d’accéder à la connaissance et au discernement.

L’expérience spirituelle qui n’est pas reconnue et entretenue est un peu à l’image d’un feu qui risque de s’éteindre si on ne l’alimente pas régulièrement.

Fuir les hommes, se taire, garder le recueillement sont les trois degrés de l’hésychia. Cette ascension est-elle possible sans se retirer au désert et y vivre la solitude ? Pouvons-nous l’envisager en-dehors de l’engagement monastique ?

La louange est au cœur de la prière de l’Eglise. Elle est la tonalité même de la prière. La louange est tout à la fois l’expression de l’émerveillement, de la gratitude, de la révérence et de la dilatation du cœur sous l’effet de la grâce.

Le thème de cette rencontre, mystique et liberté, me semble en résonance avec le questionnement actuel. Nous sommes dans un temps de mutation et je crois important de réinvestir ces deux réalités qui marchent ensemble : la vie mystique conduit vers la vraie liberté, l’esprit de liberté s’épanouit dans la dilatation mystique.
